I have given tips on how to clean your kettle regularly in order to prevent mineral deposits. With a clean kitchen appliance, the quality of water will not be affected plus its lifespan will increase.
What is Hard Water Build-up?
Hard water build up is actually mineral deposits on your krups electric stainless steel kettle or other types of kettle that you use in your kitchen. It is usually a white powder that can be seen a kettle.
These mineral deposits are usually calcium and magnesium. They are the minerals responsible for hard water and can be difficult to remove if left for a long time. This is because they harden after drying.
The good news is, this build up created at the bottom of a kettle can be removed by using acidic substances such as lime juice, vinegar and citric acid. Any of these substances can remove.
How Do You Clean Glass Kettles and Remove Hard Water Build–Up?
Using Vinegar
Step 1: Mix vinegar and water in equal quantities and pour in your kettle with hard water build up. Make sure the kettle is half filled with the mixture.
Step 2: Boil the mixture of vinegar and water for some time.
Step 3: Switch off the kettle and remove the power cord once the water has boiled. Allow the mixture to cool for about 10 to 15 minute. Pour the mixture and rinse the electric tea kettle.
Note: Do not forget to rinse it several times to make sure no vinegar is left
Step 4: Wipe the kettle very well with a clean dry towel inside out.
Using Lime or Lemon Water
Step 1: Mix 2 cups of water and 30 grams of lemons.
Step 2: Switch on the electric kettle and allow the mixture to boil for 20 to 25 minutes.
Step 3: Switch off the kettle once the mixture has boiled and unplug its cord. Allow the mixture to cool before pouring it out.
Step 4: If there are some traces of mineral deposits left, use a damp cloth with soda bicarbonate to wipe it off.
Step 5: Ensure you rinse the kitchen appliance very well before using it.
With Lemon Slices
Step 1: Extract juice from 4 to 5 lemons
Step 2: Pour the extracted lemon in kettle and add water until halfway. You can also include the lemon pieces.
Step 3: Boil the mixture for about 10 or 15 minutes and turn off the kitchen appliance. Let it cool
Step 4: Drain the water from the kettle plus its content. Fill it with plain water and boil again for another 5 minutes.
Step 5: Drain the water and rinse several times. Dry it with a clean cloth
Tips for Cleaning Glass Kettles
Water build-up can be a daunting task to remove. If the above ways are not effective with your krups electric water kettle, you can prepare a vinegar mixture and let remain inside your kettle overnight.
Another method of removing water build up is by use of baking soda. Sprinkle some of it inside your kettle and scrub gently using a damp sponge. Try not to touch the heating element because it has a special coating that is designed to protect it.
You can use vinegar to remove water build up on the filter. Submerge the filter in a solution with vinegar for a few minutes then scrub it to get it clean. Do not submerge your krups electric tea kettle stainless steel in water for long time as this will damage its heating elements.
All the methods discussed above will surely get your kitchen appliance clean and keep it working for a long time. Cleaning your favorite kettle should be done every few months. Clean it on a regular basis if you live in area with harder water.
